At Jernice Care, we provide specialist sensory impairment care services in Northamptonshire and across the UK, supporting individuals living with visual impairment, hearing loss, or dual sensory impairment to live safely, confidently, and independently in their own homes.
Our compassionate, person-centred approach ensures care is tailored to each individual’s communication needs, routines, and abilities while promoting dignity and wellbeing.
we recognise that no two individuals experience sensory impairment in the same way. Our care is:
Person-centred – tailored to individual needs and preferences
Respectful – maintaining dignity, privacy, and independence
Supportive – promoting confidence and emotional wellbeing
Consistent – providing familiar carers wherever possible
Our carers receive training to communicate effectively and safely support individuals with sensory impairments.
We provide practical and emotional support for individuals living with sight loss, including: assistance with safe movement and orientation in the home, support with personal care and daily routines, help with reading correspondence and managing paperwork, meal preparation and household support.
For individuals with hearing loss, our carers provide patient and clear communication, including: using appropriate communication methods (spoken, written, visual cues), assistance during appointments and social activities, support with hearing aids and assistive devices, reducing isolation through companionship.
Individuals with combined sight and hearing loss may require specialist support. Our carers provide: tailored communication techniques, structured routines to enhance safety, one-to-one support with daily living, emotional reassurance and companionship.
